September 2023
Whew! It's September 11th and I'm just now getting the month's synopsis entered. Time has really gotten away from me.
August was a very busy month at CBC as we completed most of the renovations we were/are doing to our sanctuary. Early in the month workers from Woods Church Interiors in Henderson, TN came and replaced the upholstery on our sanctuary pews. In addition they replaced the seat foam making the pews both beautiful and more comfortable.
Once the pews were done the men of the church put in a short worktime after morning worship and removed all the pews so the carpet could be replaced. Todd's Carpeting came and replaced the carpet and pad on the main floor of the sanctuary and in the stairwell descending into the basement.
The last phase of the renovation, and the one still in progress, is the construction of a media booth. The media booth houses the equipment used to produce the audio for our service and to project the slides on our screen for lyrics, sermon notes, etc.
Additionally, the media booth holds the equipment we use to produce our broadcast. Our livestream feeds are seeing more and more viewership. We have viewers from Kenya to Kentucky and all points in between. Many of our members enjoy watching the service on Facebook or YouTube on those days they don't feel well enough to attend in person or when they are out of town.
Our broadcasts are one way that we fulfill Jesus' "Great Commission" as found in Matthew 28:19,20.
If you are unaware of our broadcasts you can find them on Facebook on the church's Facebook page and the Pastor's Facebook page each Sunday morning at 11:00 AM EST. You can also find the live broadcasts on YouTube again on the church's page and the Pastor's page.
In addition to the videos, the audio of the sermon is uploaded to Podbean.com, a podcast site. From Podbean the sermon is made available to a number of podcast distributors such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and i Heart Radio. It is possible to subscribe to our channels on any and all of the sources to get notification when a new broadcast is running or has been uploaded.
August also saw the restart of our Wednesday evening Student Ministry program. For 26 years the church offered Team Kids for the children of our community. A free program of Bible Study, Crafts, snacks, and more all at no cost and open to any child regardless of church affiliation. This year Children's Director is introducing a new program produced by Lifeway called Hyfi. This is a high energy, VBS style event that engages the children actively. We have chosen to call our program KidzVenture for children through the 5th grade and Foundations for youth grade 6 and up. The evening begins at 6 PM with a light supper and then it's into the sanctuary for a fun-filled, Bible learning experience.
In August we completed our sermon series on The Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapters 5-7. Beginning September 10th we began a new series titled "Boldly Proclaiming the Word of Christ". This series uses the book of Acts of the Apostles and in it we will learn about the growth of the New Testament church and how they presented the gospel boldly.
Finally, on September 12 we restart of Tuesday Bible Studies. In the morning at 9:30 a group meets. This Fall's study will be "Encouraging One Another." In the evening Bible study, which begins at 5 PM, we will study the end times. The end times study will examine various scripture relating to the end times. We will hope to gain an understanding of the flow of events.
A peek ahead! - God has been very good to CBC and we want to celebrate His goodness. On Sunday, October 15th from 2-5 PM we will pause for a time of refreshments, fellowship, and worship. We're inviting all our friends, former members, members of local sister churches, and our community to come see what God has done and is doing at CBC.
At 2 PM John Ball of Campbellsburg Christian Church will play pieces for your enjoyment on our pipe organ installed when the church was built in 1915. We've recently had some maintenance and upgrades performed on the organ and we look forward to hearing it played.
At 3PM a local gospel quartet, Adoration, will bring us upbeat and contemplative music. Finally, at 4:00 PM we will host a hymn sing with a special or two thrown in for a good mix.
All in all October 15th from 2-5 PM will be a great afternoon of worship enjoyment and we hope you'll be there!
That about covers what's happening this month at CBC. Stay tuned for more news as we follow Jesus throughout the year.
