March 2023
Whew! We can breathe a sigh of relief, at least here in Kentucky. While we may yet have a cold day or two, it seems that winter's hold has been broken! The days are getting longer and warmer and things are starting to green up. Spring is just around the corner and I couldn't be happier.
We've stayed active at CBC through the winter but we've got more coming up that I want to share with you.
Saturday, March 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM - Community Movie Night. We'll be showing the movie "Running the Bases" in our Fellowship Hall with our newly mounted projector and screen. Beginning at 5:00 PM we'll start with serving tube steaks (Hot Dogs) with all the fixings, desserts and soft drinks. Then we'll settle back to watch this captivating and inspiring movie about one man's resolute stand in the face of personal tragedy and personal attack. We hope you'll join us for this movie sure to inspire you to stand firm in your faith of God.
Beginning this Sunday, March 5th, we have Marc Richey and his wife, Kristie, coming to be our Worship Leader through April 16th in view of a call as permanent Worship Leader. Marc and Kathy have many years of experience serving God in many capacities but most pointedly in the music arena. We hope you'll come attend and get to know them.
This Sunday, the 5th, is a very special Sunday as we will have a baptismal service during our morning worship service. A couple of weeks ago Jerry, Jerra, and Cash Sharp all come to share their faith in Jesus Christ and to request to be baptized into the family of God. We rejoice with them and their family that they have made this conviction public. Join us in person but if you can't the full service, including baptism, will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube.
On Sunday, March 12th, we have a very special treat as two local friends of the church come to accompany on the organ and piano in our morning worship service. We welcome Marty Tollefsen and John Ball to our church. Each of them regularly accompany at other churches in our community but on the 12th they are coming to provide us with organ and piano music.
We've got as lot going on at CBC. God is moving and we're joining Him in His work. With Easter coming, April 9th, we're turning our attention to that great day of celebration. Beginning this Sunday we are starting a sermon series titled "Again All Odds" We'll begin by looking at the many prophecies of Jesus coming and work on our behalf and then we'll continue in subsequent weeks preparing our hearts for Easter Sunday.
Part of our preparation is our Easter Cantata. The choir has begun rehearsal on a cantata called "Jesus Saves" and God is blessing us with more voices. Our choir will present this musical message on Palm Sunday, April 2 in the morning worship service. You're invited to be our special guest as we lift our voices in song, praising our Savior and Lord!
We're also preparing for upcoming events. Our Vacation Bible School is scheduled for the last full week of June. The planning and training has begun and we hope you'll put it on your calendar!
Our Children's Director, Julie Moody, is busy working on VBS and she is busy preparing to take some of our Team Kid children to summer camp in July. They will be going to Cedarmore Baptist Assembly in Bagdad, KY.
A renovation project that I am very excited about is being planned for this summer. In July we will have our sanctuary pews reupholstered and new carpet laid in the sanctuary. We'll be building a dedicated Media Booth for our Audio and Video ministry and redoing some other related upgrades as well.
All of this work and the events are to keep CBC vital and effective in ministering to our community. We're not perfect but we are dedicated to worshiping God Almighty and ministering to our community and indeed around the world with personal visitation and via our livestreaming on Facebook and YouTube.
Did you know we've got individuals across our country and even as far away as East Africa watching our broadcasts on Sunday mornings? We're rejoicing, not bragging, because all we are doing is striving to obey Jesus Christ's command to "Go ye into all the world . . ." If you want to be part of a church that is actively serving God at home and around the world then we invite you to join us at Campbellsburg Baptist Church. We're a church on the go and on the grow and we need you to be a part of our journey!
